Exhibiting Tips
Staying current on all upcoming exhibitor events and expos is a great way to network in your area. Damsel In Defense encourages teams of Damsel Pros to work together on large events. Because of the nature of our product it is wise to always have two Pros at the table at a time. A booth or table display with live or loaded items should NEVER be left unattended. We highly recommend that if you are exhibiting at large events that you purchase the Fire and Lightning Boxes from the Damsel Direct promotional site to safeguard you and your business.
In order to respect your fellow Damsel Pros it is important to check with the show coordinator before booking your booth to make sure that another Damsel Pro has not already signed up to exhibit. For larger expos two booths may not be an issue, but Damsel In Defense must insist that an event with less than 10,000 expected participants only one Damsel In Defense booth can exhibit.
In addition, Damsel In Defense products should not be displayed with another companies merchandise at an exhibiting booth. The booth should be specific to exclusively Damsel In Defense product and branding.
Exhibits are great opportunities to sell product and make money but the greatest benefit to these events is the networking leads that come from them. The visibility that your business will receive from exhibiting, the parties you can book and the recruiting leads you will receive have the potential to give you great long term results. Some of our best Damsel Pros have come from networking at these types of events.
Promotional items available on Damsel Direct for your large events:
Acrylic Boxes * these will protect you and your customers from grasping hands and accidents.Product Cards * make the best use of your time and save your breath from the “How much is this?” question.Hanging Banner * don’t be mistaken for a make-up party. Grab their attention before they become passer bys. Raffle Pads * optimize the opportunity to collect as much data as possible and book those parties afterwards. Order Forms + these will save you the time of handwriting out detailed receipts with a waiting crowd.
Guidelines and Tips for your event:
1. You will always want a minimum of two people exhibiting together. It is company policy that everyone in the booth must be a contracted Damsel Pro. Make sure you agree upon splitting of the booth costs, sales, inventory contributions and recruiting arrangements beforehand so everyone is on the same page and knows what is expected of them.
2. Pay extra for a corner booth and take down the side partition for increased exposure.
3. Set up two tables, one for your main display and one for your promotional items and raffle space. If possible raise up the raffle space so that customers do not need to bend down to fill it out the tickets. Place a sturdy box on the table and drape it with fabric onto the lower table. For busier larger events with more staffing you will want a second display set up to utilize the table space for demoing.
4. Never demo product outside of your booth. As a general rule it is a good idea to always sell from inside your booth regardless. Customers, especially those big on personal space, are turned off by pushy in your face sales. These products sell themselves. Be confident but relaxed and friendly. They will come to you.
5. Organization is KEY. Have your product organized and separated into boxes out of public reach to easily fill orders and check customers out. As customers commit to a purchase move them aside to check out and keep the front of the booth clear.
6. Bring your own table cloths. Many times events will leave you with their event colors and it may not coordinate with Damsel colors.
7. Print out Damsel Pro Agreements and bring them with you to hand out to promising Recruits. Make sure to write your name and number on the Agreements in advance.
8. Make sure that your cash box and inventory are secure and not reachable from underneath the table and out of plain site. Theft happens more often than we like to think about.
9. For smaller events, take time with your customers and feel free to go over every product if they allow you the time. For busier events you will want to optimize the exposure and keep the flow of traffic moving through the booth so you don’t lose those customers that can’t get to the front of the booth.
10. Don’t spend time demoing every item. Instead get the crowd’s attention with our biggest sellers.
Introduction Demo
Below is a demo of how to introduce the line and company to a new customer that takes just 90 seconds of yours and their time.
“How are you today? We are Damsel In Defense and we specialize in personal protection products. This is our 7.5 Million Volt Pack A Punch Stun Gun (put hand through disable pin strap). The great thing about stun guns is that they are a deterrent. So if I’m walking to my car and he looks threatening and I fire of a warning like this (hold stun gun in air and activate trigger for one full second only), that’s going to make him think twice. But if he does attack me and the stun gun gets pulled away from me (pull stun gun with opposite hand) it cannot be used against me because it will not work without the disable pin. This is also great for Mom’s with little ones worried about carrying. The pin goes in one pocket of your purse and the stun gun in another to keep the item inactive. All of our stun guns have flashlights (activate) and are rechargeable. And this one actually plugs directly into the wall (slide out charger). The Pack A Punch is $50 and the special we are offering is if you purchase a stun gun for $10 more you will receive a pepper spray and a keychain weapon.
Pepper spray is available from 2%-18% and our keychain pepper sprays are 18%. They are the strongest you will find and they contain UV Dye in them so that if you tag an assailant and he gets away the police can still identify him under a black light later on.
Our keychain weapon is called a kubotan. It’s a striking tool that you would use to stab soft tissue or smack bone. Stabbing the ribs, neck or anywhere on the head will inflict severe pain. There are self-defense classes taught on just this item. It is extremely effective and inexpensive.
We are a new Direct Sales company based out of Idaho and we are looking for women who are passionate about safety and looking to make extra income selling these products on their own time so if you know anyone that would be interested please let us know.”
At this time read the customer and see if they are interested in product, the opportunity or moving on.• If they seem interested in learning more about the rest of the line continue on. They will usually ask questions.• If they are interested in purchasing move them over to checkout so that you can keep the booth clear.• If they are interested in the opportunity move them aside or step out of the booth to give them more information.• If they are not committing either way close with…
“We are also raffling off an item at the end of the show if you would like to sign up over here, we would love to put you on our mailing list.”

This is the only film we walked out on at SXSW. There is nothing funny in this film. Someone told me it was supposed be a feminist version of a western > arrival putlockers. If true, all women should be insulted by it.
